She moved to Regina in 2011, and worked at a dog kennel in the city for 5 years, as well as a few pet stores. Then she started working at Ascent Stairworks at the beginning of 2018, after she got her Human Resource Diploma. At the beginning of 2019, Marty brought up the idea of The Dawg House…and it became a reality in May of 2019!⠀Katie got Beatrice (pictured) when she was 9 weeks old. She has been Katie’s little shadow ever since, going basically everywhere with her. Katie & her husband Jeremy recently got another rescue dog (Vivian), & also have 3 cats, (Kami, Kiz, and Kesa), and 2 snakes! Growing up on a farm, Elisa knew that she wanted a career working with animals. In 2016, she began working at her first doggy daycare. Not long after, Elisa was introduced to the world of dog training - and she was instantly hooked! She says teaching obedience classes has been very rewarding, and witnessing dogs and their owners learn & overcome obstacles is one of her favourite parts. Elisa believes in using balanced training methods, and loads of positive reinforcement! She has had dogs her whole life - in early December 2020, she added Ember, a Husky X (pictured) to her family, and recently adopted a new Lab X puppy named Addy! Dogs have always been her favourite animal. She was raised around dogs and currently has two dogs: Sloan, a 5 year old Rottweiler mix, and Bennie, a 6 year old german shepherd lab mix. Kiyana graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at Olds College in February of 2021. She has always had a passion for dogs and has wanted to care and love for them all. Her dream is to adopt or save as many dogs as she can in my life. Kiyana’s dogs attended The Dawg House a few years before, and she saw we were hiring on Facebook and knew it was the perfect opportunity! Everyday Kiyana wakes up excited to come to work and be greeted by all the smiling faces on the dogs. She enjoys getting to watch them and experience shy dogs come out of their shell over time. She also loves seeing the friendships form between the dogs. Kiyana loves how no days are ever the same, and she’s forever grateful she get to take care of your dogs and love on them as she would her own. Avienn currently has two dogs who are siblings, Mazy and Penca, and she brings them with her to daycare so they can play with the other pups, and they love it. Her favourite length to groom a dog is Medium, and says the best thing about her job is getting to connect with the dogs much she can. She truly enjoy grooming all dogs, but she has a special place in her heart for Doodles. She loves giving them the adorable “teddy bear cut” and making them look their best. She shares a helpful tip for dog owners: regularly brush your furry friends and run a metal comb through their coat to prevent mats. The frequency of brushing will depend on the length of your dog’s coat, but it’s important for maintaining a nice look. Additionally, it’s beneficial to desensitize your dog to grooming by handling them regularly. Also, longer lengths of coats should come in for regular maintenance every 4-6 weeks! Ella knew she wanted a job that dealt with animals and dog grooming is what she landed on! Ella’s favourite breed to groom are Chihuahuas, and her favourite shampoo is the de-shedding shampoo because it’s 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner. Her favourite length is a 2 comb, it’s the perfect length between short and shaved! Ella shares that her favourite part of being a groomer is working with the pet parent to find the perfect haircut for their dog, and seeing their reaction after a groom. On her days off she likes to read and just relax, since grooming is a very physical and tiring job! Lauryn’s love for animals has been a constant in her life for as long as she can remember. She strives to keep a positive attitude because she knows dogs can pick up on our energy. Kianna has loved animals for as long as she can remember, so when she started working at The Dawg House, it was kismet. Kianna joined our team in spring of 2024 for a work experience program when she was in grade 12. She says one of the best decisions she made was giving her passion a second chance by applying to work at The Dawg House in July of 2024; igniting her spark that had been dimmed. Olivia is in her fourth year of university for a degree in Anthropology which she will cater towards a career surrounding canines and humans. She lives on a farm with my family, that they started from scratch - they raise pigs, sheep, chickens, turkeys, and geese, as well as five cats and three dogs.
